Women's Mental Health

Your mental health,
through every hormonal shift.

Hormonal changes, from a menstrual cycle to pregnancy to menopause, can reshape mood and energy in ways standard mental health care often misses. Our providers understand that connection and build it into your care.

What it is

Mental health, viewed through
a hormonal lens.

Estrogen and progesterone shift throughout a menstrual cycle, pregnancy, the postpartum period, and perimenopause, and those shifts can directly affect mood, sleep, and anxiety. General mental health care doesn't always account for that connection. Ours is built around it, so your provider is looking at the whole picture, not just the symptoms on the surface.

Why it matters

Hormones and mental health
are connected, not separate.

Roughly 1 in 7 women experience a mood disorder during pregnancy or the postpartum period, and PMDD and perimenopausal mood changes remain widely underdiagnosed. This isn't a niche concern. It's a well-documented, treatable part of women's health.

01

Postpartum mood disorders are common and underreported

Many new mothers hesitate to bring up mood or anxiety symptoms out of fear of judgment. They're one of the most common complications of childbirth.

02

PMDD is often mistaken for ordinary PMS

The severity and cyclical pattern of PMDD set it apart from typical premenstrual symptoms, and it responds well to targeted treatment.

03

Perimenopause can bring on new anxiety or depression

Shifting hormone levels in the years before menopause can trigger mood symptoms even in people with no prior history of them.

How we help

Support built around
your whole hormonal picture.

Hormonal mental health looks different at every life stage. Our approach treats the whole person, including how it intersects with sleep, physical health, and reproductive milestones.

Comprehensive evaluation

Your first visit covers your history, your cycle, and how your mood has shifted across pregnancy, postpartum, or perimenopause.

Thoughtful medication management

If medication is part of your plan, including options considered safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding, we monitor and adjust it together.

Whole-person care

Because our providers are dual-certified in mental health and chronic illness, your mood symptoms and conditions like thyroid disorders can be addressed by the same clinician.

The same provider, every visit

You'll see the same clinician each time. They know your history and how your mood tends to move with your cycle or life stage.

What we treat

Care that sees
the rest of you, too.

Hormone-related mood changes often show up alongside other conditions. Because our providers are dual-certified, both can be treated in the same place.

What we don't treat

Active psychosis (including postpartum psychosis), active suicidal ideation with a plan, and substance use disorders require a higher level of in-person care than we can safely provide by telehealth. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 or go to your nearest emergency room.

Continuity of care

The same provider,
every time you log in.

You won't retell your story to a new face every visit. You'll be matched with a dual board-certified provider who gets to know your cycle, your history, and what's helping, and who stays with you as your care evolves.

Common questions

Answers to what
people usually ask.

How is PMDD different from regular PMS?
PMS involves mild physical or emotional symptoms before a period. PMDD is more severe: significant depression, irritability, or anxiety that disrupts work or relationships in the one to two weeks before menstruation, then eases once it starts.
Is it safe to take medication while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Several medications are considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and untreated depression or anxiety carries its own risks. Your provider will weigh the specifics with you and help you decide what fits your situation.
How long do perimenopausal mood changes last?
Perimenopause can last several years, and mood symptoms can come and go throughout it. Treatment doesn't require waiting it out. Therapy, medication, or both can ease symptoms while your hormones continue to shift.
What if I need more support than telehealth can offer?
If your provider determines you need a higher level of care, such as for postpartum psychosis, active suicidal ideation with a plan, or substance use, they'll help connect you to appropriate in-person resources. If you're in crisis right now, call or text 988 or go to your nearest emergency room.
